Parliament's select committee investigating the operations and mismanagement of the National Social Security Fund (NSSF) is set to meet with over 10 stakeholders including whistle-blowers.
The committee chaired by Mwine Mpaka (Mbarara south) today (January 30) held a closed-door meeting, where a programme and list of stakeholders to interact with, was drawn.
Top on the list is the former NSSF managing director Richard Byarugaba who is set to appear before the committee on Thursday.
“We are starting with the former managing director Byarugaba at 9:00am and, at 11:00am, we are going to meet the minister of gender. At 1:00pm, we are going to meet the minister of finance and the Uganda Retirement Benefits Regulatory Authority,” Mpaka told Journalists at Parliament today.
The committee is tomorrow expected to start the probe with the whistleblower, who Mpaka only identified as Job, before meeting members of the workers’ unions.
On Wednesday, the committee will kick off the day’s proceedings with the workers’ MPs at 9:00am, after the worker’s MPs, the committee will then meet the Federation of Ugandan Employers and later the NSSF board at 1:00pm.
On Friday, the MPs are set to meet the Uganda Law Society, the Attorney General and the Auditor General, as well as the corporate governance institution, before a field visit to the pension tower.
“We have also instructed the competent authority to verify the claims regarding the pension tower whether it had a crack or not,” Mpaka said....
