The YMCA of Greater Boston announced Tim Baymon as the new executive director of the Roxbury branch. Baymon has over eight years of experience with the YMCA and was most recently the associate executive director of the Roxbury branch.

Baymon started his career in his hometown of Springfield in 2010 as the program director for youth development at the YMCA of Greater Springfield. He worked with the Springfield Public Schools to address the achievement gap among young people in the city. Later, Baymon served as the YMCA Achievers Director and focused on global initiatives with Greater Hartford YMCA for several years. Baymon was responsible for developing a multicultural employee resource group for the Greater Hartford YMCA to provide opportunities for advancement for part-time and full-time staff.

In 2016, Baymon joined the YMCA of Greater Boston and served as the YMCA Achiever’s Operations Director. He is one of the founders of Brother’s United to Inspire Lifestyle Development (BUILD), a program, based out of Springfield that focuses on addressing the systemic inequities facing young Black and brown men. Baymon is also involved in the USA Multicultural Mentoring Program and is the chair of the African American Resource Network in Boston.

Baymon has a bachelor’s degree in sociology with a focus on urban studies from American International College and a master’s degree in business administration from Springfield College.
