Philadelphia lawyer moves: Fox Chase Cancer Center hires GC; lateral hires pick up - Philadelphia Business Journal - The Business Journals

The start of another month once again brought a flurry of lateral partner moves in the past week. A local hospital also got in on the act, while Eckert Seamans has a new leader in Philadelphia for the first time in over a decade. Here is a recap of all the action:

Former Moderna, GSK lawyer tapped as new Fox Chase GC

Jerome Maddox has been named general counsel for Fox Chase Cancer Center. He comes to Fox Chase, part of Temple University Health System, after a stint as associate general counsel for commercial and public policy at Moderna in Cambridge, Massachusetts.

Maddox was in that role for less than two years. He had spent the prior 11 years at GlaxoSmithKline in the Philadelphia region, holding five different roles in that time. One of those positions was assistant general counsel for vaccines, in which he was the lead U.S. attorney for GSK’s most successful vaccine launch, Shingrix. He then moved on to become vice president for U.S. legal for vaccines. Prior roles included assistant general counsel at Aramark and associate at Dechert.

As a member of Fox Chase Cancer Center’s executive team, Maddox will lead the legal and governance functions for the hospital, including corporate secretarial matters, major contracts and transactions, regulatory compliance, litigation, legal support of research, intellectual property, clinical trials and affiliations with commercial partners, and medical staff and patient care matters.
