The 62-year-old has stepped down from all work at ITV after he admitted to having a relationship with a younger colleague.

Since then details about Phil while he was on the show have come to light, with one source saying he was a "nightmare".

It has been said that some people who worked on the popular daytime show would look forward to Ruth Langsford and Eamonn Holmes being in on Fridays due to Phillip being hard work.

However, the pair no longer work on the show due to previously being axed.

A source, who worked on the show in 2017, told The Daily Star : "Phillip was a nightmare. I saw him angrily throw a cue card at a researcher's head and call them thick for making a typo.

"Producers would comfort each other as it was horrible. We used to look forward to Eamonn and Ruth covering for the holidays, especially over summer for six weeks."

While another person who worked on the show in 2022, said: "Phillip was very particular with briefs, he hated it when anyone used the word ‘kids’ instead of children, or ‘celebs’ instead of celebrities in his briefs or when things were underlined too much.

"He’d get really annoyed! He would shout and he’d refuse to read them altogether or get people to redo them."

They went on to explain that Phillip had "made members of the team cry" over the years due to the pressure he put on them to get stories ready in time for the show.
