This week, Piers Morgan apologized on air to Jay-Z and Beyoncé after an interview on his show featured false claims about the couple. The interview was with singer Jaguar Wright, who made accusations that turned out to be untrue.
Wright appeared on Morgan’s show, Uncensored, and talked about Sean “Diddy” Combs’ recent arrest. During the interview, she said, “For four years I’ve been screaming not just Diddy, but Diddy and Jay-Z are monsters.” She also claimed that Jay-Z and Beyoncé had harmed hundreds of people.
On Tuesday, Morgan explained that Jay-Z and Beyoncé’s lawyers contacted him, saying Wright’s claims were “totally false and have no basis in fact.”
Morgan told his viewers, “The thing about platforms… is that pretty much everyone has one as long as they have something to say that other people want to hear. That’s why we invited [Wright] to be interviewed. The people making these claims have an audience with or without shows like mine.”
He continued, “Jaguar made serious allegations about Jay-Z and Beyoncé during that interview. As I said at the time, they weren’t there to defend themselves, but now they have responded. Lawyers contacted us and said the claims were false, and we’ve followed their legal request to remove them from the original interview.”
