KANKAKEE — Kankakee police arrested Dawan R. Holdman, 19, of Kankakee, and charged him with a felony of disorderly conduct for filing a false police report Oct. 25.
According to a report, Holdman was involved in a traffic accident in the 400 block of South Small Avenue. The vehicle struck a building, police said.
Holdman ran from the scene and was stopped by officers, according to police.
Holdman claimed he was a victim of an armed robbery and had his vehicle stolen near the 1200 block of West Jeffery Street.
Holdman later admitted to making the story up, police said.
According to police, Holdman picked up a friend on West Jeffery Street and went “joy riding.”
A Kankakee County judge set Holdman’s bail at $5,000.
According to court records, Holdman was released after paying the required bond.
