Porch.com Employees' $500000 California Wage Deal Gets Approved - Bloomberg Law

Home improvement website Porch.com and its subsidiary moved closer to resolving a California wage and hour suit involving nearly 240 employees, after a federal judge granted preliminary approval of the parties’ $500,000 settlement.

The employees will split $282,333 of the total amount. Class counsel plans to seek $166,666 in attorneys’ fees plus up to $20,000 in costs.

The lawsuit was filed in 2020 by Ariana Preston on behalf of similarly situated non-exempt employees under California’s Labor Code and Private Attorneys General Act. Preston alleged Porch failed to pay all wages earned, including overtime, timely pay termination wages, provide adequate breaks, ...
