President Lee Promotes Stock Manipulation Whistleblower Rewards - 서울경제신문

President Lee Jae-myung promoted the Financial Services Commission's recent decision to eliminate the cap on whistleblower rewards for stock manipulation through social media. The president has repeatedly emphasized his stance that "stock manipulators will be financially ruined."

On the 14th, President Lee shared a post on X (formerly Twitter) titled "How to get rich while building a better country," reposting content from FSC Chairman Lee Eok-won.

Chairman Lee's post included a video introducing the government's new policy eliminating the ceiling on stock manipulation whistleblower rewards.

The video, produced by FSC staff, opens with a scene of an office worker who received a whistleblower reward stepping out of a luxury supercar. It then provides guidance on reporting methods and reward payments. Chairman Lee wrote, "We recently made a groundbreaking improvement to the stock manipulation reporting reward system, eliminating the cap and offering up to 30% of illicit gains."

On May 25th, the FSC announced it would completely eliminate caps on rewards for reporting unfair capital market trading and accounting fraud. Previously, whistleblowers who helped detect unfair trading violations could receive up to 3 billion won, while accounting fraud reports were capped at 1 billion won. These limits have now been abolished entirely.
