Netflix Docuseries “Meltdown: Three Mile Island” Nominated for Primetime Emmy Award

Docuseries covering Government Accountability Project client, Rick Parks, who blew the whistle on near nuclear disaster, is nominated for Outstanding Historical Documentary.

WASHINGTON – On August 1st, the Academy of Television Arts & Sciences nominated the Netflix docuseries “Meltdown: Three Mile Island” for a Primetime Emmy Award in the category of Outstanding Historical Documentary. “Meltdown” tells the story of the worst nuclear accident in U.S. history and the prominent role played by a Government Accountability Project whistleblower-client and former investigator in preventing a cataclysmic release of radioactivity and full meltdown during the cleanup of the Three Mile Island nuclear power plant.

The four-part docuseries tells the story of Rick Parks, a nuclear engineer, as he narrates behind-the-scenes events during the Three Mile Island accident clean-up and what compelled him to blow the whistle on unsafe procedures at the facility and negligence at the Nuclear Regulatory Commission. That is when Parks was retaliated against cruelly, including a break-in to his home and planted evidence to discredit him. Government Accountability Project Co-founder and Legal Director, Tom Devine, is featured prominently in episode three, as he advised and represented Parks in his successful efforts to expose negligence and halt a dangerous clean-up effort...
