LAHAD DATU: The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) Sabah has arrested a private clinic director suspected of submitting false claims amounting to roughly RM50,000 for a statutory body’s health screening programme.
The male suspect, in his 40s, was detained at around 8pm yesterday when he turned up to give a statement at the Lahad Datu MACC branch office.
Initial investigations revealed that the suspect allegedly used the personal details of 880 workers who are Social Security Organisation (Socso) contributors without their knowledge to claim funds under the programme in 2023.
Sabah MACC Director Datuk Mohd Fuad Bee Basrah confirmed the arrest and said the case is being investigated under Section 18 of the MACC Act 2009.
He added that the suspect would be released after his statement had been recorded.
