Law must balance young researchers’ stability with systemic flexibility, DHV says
The German Association of University Professors and Lecturers (DHV) has spoken out against abolishing the Fixed-Term Academic Contracts Act (WissZeitVG), which forms the basis for the abundance of fixed-term contracts in German academia.
The law should not be abolished without replacement laws coming into effect, the DHV said on 27 June. It added that the need of young academics for professional security should be better balanced with the need of the science system for continual renewal.
