Prosecutors have indicted four individuals accused of falsely reporting sexual crimes, including a person who claimed to have been "raped" after being caught in an extramarital affair despite having consented to the sexual relationship.
The Seoul Southern District Prosecutors' Office Women and Children Crime Investigation Division (headed by Choi Hee-jung) announced on the 22nd that it had identified and indicted without detention four individuals accused of false accusations between December last year and January this year.
Among them, A allegedly filed a false rape complaint against a person they had an affair with after being discovered by their de facto spouse. A had consented to a sexual relationship with a karaoke room assistant but filed a rape complaint against the individual after their spouse found out about the affair.
B (33 years old) is accused of sexually assaulting a foreigner, C, who was asleep after drinking in April last year, then falsely reporting that "C threatened to extort money by claiming quasi-rape despite consenting to the relationship."
Additionally, D, who demanded a settlement after threatening to report a consensual relationship as rape and then filed a rape complaint when refused, was also indicted.
Meanwhile, these cases were initially closed by the police without referral for prosecution, but the prosecution uncovered the false accusations through supplementary investigations and referred them to trial.
