WASHINGTON (TND) — A YouTube channel run by a clinical psychologist who pioneered “reintegrative therapy” meant to help patients resolve their traumatic memories, something the psychologist says leads clients to experience spontaneous shifts in their sexual attraction, has been scrubbed from YouTube.
Joseph Nicolosi Jr. said he believes the channel's removal was the result of media reports that cited a study from The Global Project Against Hate and Extremism (GPAHE) arguing tech platforms have not done enough to deplatform groups allegedly pushing "conversion therapy."
The channel included reviews of research illustrating the harm reduction effects of “reintegrative therapy.” The channel itself appears to still be on YouTube, but all of its content is gone.
“Big Tech, at the behest of left-wing activists, decided to censor information about sexual shifts that move any client on the sexuality spectrum away from ‘gay’ and toward ‘straight,’” Nicolosi wrote. “These outcomes, which would be celebrated if they moved a client the other direction, which can be life-transforming results for some people.”
Nicolosi said the treatment method his practice uses every single day is distinctive from “conversion therapy,” since it does not seek to change a patient’s sexuality.
The study from GPAHE likened "reintegrative therapy" to "conversion therapy" and said the group uses rebranding techniques to “dissociate” its work from "conversion therapy," according to Fox Business.
