PTI Fact Check: Clipped video falsely claims Rahul Gandhi talked about himself when he said 'he has direct connection with God’ - Press Trust of India

New Delhi, November 3 (Kaushiki Goel / Pratyush Ranjan, PTI Fact Check): A video featuring Congress leader Rahul Gandhi addressing a public rally has gone viral on social media with the claim that he said he does not suffer from any illness because he has a direct connection with God. In the 15-second clip, Gandhi can be heard saying, “I do not get any illness; I have a direct connection with God, I talk to Him directly,” which users shared to suggest he was referring to himself.

However, a PTI fact check found the claim to be misleading. The viral video is a clipped portion of a longer speech delivered in Darbhanga, Bihar, where Gandhi was actually taking a jibe at Prime Minister Narendra Modi. In the full context, Gandhi mimics Modi while criticising him for staging a dip in the polluted Yamuna river, sarcastically suggesting that Modi would claim he doesn’t fall sick because he talks directly to God. The viral clip removes this context, falsely implying that Gandhi made the claim about himself.
