PTI Fact Check: Digitally manipulated video falsely claims ‘Vote Chor’ Slogans raised at Bihar Deputy CM Samrat Choudhary’s rally - Press Trust of India

New Delhi, September 30 (Vaidehi Jahagirdar/ Pratyush Ranjan, PTI Fact Check): As political fervour ahead of the upcoming assembly elections continues to swirl across Bihar, with leaders from both ruling and opposition parties engaging in public outreach programmes, a purported social media video showing chants of "Vote Chor, Gaddi Chhod" being raised at a rally of Bihar Deputy Chief Minister is being widely shared. The footage allegedly showed the Bihar Deputy Chief Minister standing atop a bus and waving to the crowd when slogans of "Vote Chor" were raised against him.

However, the Press Trust of India's Fact Check Desk investigated the video and found that it had been digitally manipulated. While the visuals showing Samrat Choudhary waving at the crowd are real, the voice with the slogans in the background was found to have been superimposed. A digitally manipulated video was falsely shared on social media to mislead viewers.

It is also pertinent to note that Congress leader Rahul Gandhi had earlier alleged in a news conference that systemic "vote chori" (vote theft) was being orchestrated by the Bharatiya Janata Party. Since then, opposition leaders have been using this slogan to target the government.
