Q Link pays USD 110 million to settle Lifeline false claims allegations - Telecompaper

The US Department of Justice announced that telecoms operator Q Link Wireless, and its owner Issa Asad, will pay more than USD 110 million to settle criminal charges and False Claims Act allegations. The company was accused of violating the Act by filing false claims through the FCC's Lifeline Programme, which provides around USD 2 billion a year for eligible telecoms carriers (ETCs) to provide discounted phone services to qualified low-income consumers.
