Railroad merger opposition group claims false data used in impact study - WGN TV Chicago

ITASCA, Ill. — The Coalition to Stop CPKC has claimed the environmental impact statement report by the U.S. Surface Transportation Board ignores pertinent data.

The coalition opposes the proposed merger of Canadian Pacific and Kansas City Southern railroad companies. They plan to hold a press conference Monday to discuss their claim.

According to a media advisory sent out by the group, Monday’s event will include area mayors and members of the Illinois General Assembly.

The coalition is made up of Bartlett, Bensenville, Elgin, Itasca, Hanover Park, Roselle, Wood Dale, Schaumburg, and DuPage County.

WGN plans to livestream the event in its entirety within this story beginning at approximately 11 a.m.
