Red Dirt Orthodontics settles with AG’s office to pay $583,090 in improper billing investigation - KFOR.com

OKLAHOMA CITY (KFOR) – Oklahoma Attorney General Gentner Drummond’s office announced on Tuesday that Red Dirt Orthodontics, a dental provider, has agreed to pay $583,090 to settle allegations of improper billing for orthodontic services.

According to Drummond’s office’s latest press release, the settlement resolves allegations that the provider submitted false claims for payment between March 18, 2022, and March 25, 2024. During that time an Oklahoma Health Care Authority (OHCA) credentialed orthodontist was identified as a provider for services rendered by an orthodontist who was not credentialed with OHCA or authorized to file claims to SoonerCare.

Drummond says agencies identified that were billed knowingly and improperly were as follows:

AG Drummond applauded the work of his Medicaid Fraud Control Unit saying, “My investigative team worked carefully and extensively to recover these funds, and I’m grateful for their efforts,” Attorney General Gentner Drummond said. “I take all claims of fraud seriously and will hold accountable anyone who exploits the system.
