For many, if not all of us, the end of a year is a period of reflection and resolution. As the prior year fades into the past, we reflect on what transpired—the good, the bad, and yes, even the ugly. As we welcome the new year, we optimistically resolve to become better versions of ourselves; we aspire to become more good, less bad, and maybe even beautiful.

For judges, this is not only a time for personal reflection and resolution, but also a time to reflect on the role our courts play in our lives and our justice system. It is also a time to explore ways to do better.
