A Llanelli restaurant claims it has received “abusive and insulting” messages after rumours began circulating on social media that it had delivered food to the Stradey Park Hotel - an accusation it denies. The hotel, in the Furnace area of the town, has been at the centre of an ongoing row following a Home Office decision to move more than 200 asylum seekers into what was a four-star spa venue.
The plan has sparked fierce opposition among the local community, with protesters camped outside the hotel for several weeks, while Carmarthenshire Council has also objected to the plans. The authority put forward a legal challenge to stop the controversial move, but the bid for an interim injunction at the High Court in London was unsuccessful.
