R.I. DOT superintendent claims retaliation for whistleblower lawsuit - The Boston Globe

PROVIDENCE — When snowstorms hit Rhode Island over the past 15 years, Robert J. “RJ” Tassoni supervised snowplows clearing major highways such as Interstate 95.

But when the biggest snowstorm since the Blizzard of ‘78 hit Rhode Island in February, Tassoni, a highway maintenance field operations superintendent, said the state Department of Transportation sent him to keep watch over a pile of salt in the small coastal town of Little Compton.

“Instead of me being on the road, they stuck me in Little Compton, in the middle of nowhere,” Tassoni told the Globe on Monday. “I had to sit at a salt pile and make sure there was no ‘suspicious activity.’”
