What’s going on at Rogers?
Rogers Communications has eliminated customer service positions in multiple provinces as demand for online chat services cools.
“While a small percentage of roles in our customer service team are impacted, we continue to grow and hire people to support our operations across the country,” Zac Carreiro, a spokesperson for the Toronto-based telecom giant, told The Globe and Mail.
Samfiru Tumarkin LLP has been contacted by more than a dozen employees at Rogers — many of whom had long tenures at the company.
“After 16 years at Rogers, poof gone! A group layoff over [Microsoft Teams],” a Reddit user claimed in a post on Feb. 20.
“I feel betrayed. So many times I stepped up to help, did special projects, in the end it doesn’t matter. I am just a number to them.”
