A whistleblower has claimed new police recruits are afraid of flashing blue lights and struggle with getting car sick at speed, reports The Sun.
These rookie PCs also have overprotective parents who treat them like children and they show up regularly to complain their children are hungry and overworked .
On one new officer's first shift, his mum also arrived with him at West Midlands Police because he was nervous, the source alleges.
The source told the paper: “Several new officers are getting car sick at speed on blue lights and asking the driver to stop.
"It’s shocking.”
They claimed that as a result, policing was suffering.
Some of the worst instances concern recruits from a degree apprenticeship programme.
The whistleblower went on: “It’s like being back at school. This is a police force and we have people not living in the real world.”
They said one parent rang a station asking: “Where’s my child? They should have finished by now and I’m outside waiting to take him home.”
Chief Constable Sir David Thompson said the force had “outstanding student officers”.
It comes as the Metropolitan Police said it will appeal against a High Court ruling that it breached the rights of organisers of a vigil for Sarah Everard.
