Rose Garden Advocacy Walk to Show Whistleblower Support in Front of White House
WASHINGTON—Every President since Ronald Reagan has been contacted by Senator Chuck Grassley (R-IA.) to host an official Rose Garden Ceremony to honor and celebrate whistleblowers, yet none have done so. On Thursday, September 7, Whistleblowers of America and Government Accountability Project are hosting a Rose Garden Advocacy Walk to the White House. The walk will begin after the Workplace Promise Institute Conference at 600 14th Street Northwest, Washington, DC 20005 at 5pm EDT and end at the front gates of the White House where we will host our own brief recognition ceremony with roses made by the children of whistleblowers.
According to the Justice Department, whistleblower disclosures have not only led to the recovery of 2.2 billion of taxpayer dollars in 2020 alone from fraud, waste, and abuse, but also led to the closure of inhumane ICE detention centers, the removal of deadly prescription medications from pharmacy shelves, cleanup of contaminated drinking water, improved child welfare laws, improved animal welfare policies for farmed animals and prevented possible nuclear powerplant meltdowns. Whistleblowers put their careers and lives on the line to tell the truth about wrongdoings occurring around the country. It is time for our government to treat them like the heroes they are.
