Russia is spreading a fake claim that Ukraine is preparing a “terrorist attack” against the British ambassador and other British diplomats in Moscow. The Center for Countering Disinformation at Ukraine’s National Security and Defense Council called the statement yet another information operation by Russian intelligence services.

According to the Russian security service, a detained British Embassy security officer allegedly collected information about the facility’s security system on the instructions of Ukrainian intelligence services. The FSB claimed that Ukraine is seeking to draw London into a direct conflict with Russia. In reality, this is yet another information operation by Russian intelligence services, intended to create an “alibi” for themselves in advance amid possible provocations of their own.
