The majority owners of two now-bankrupt San Antonio restaurant companies used them as their “personal piggybanks” while misusing millions of dollars in COVID-19 relief funds intended to pay employees’ wages and rent, a trustee executing a liquidation plan alleges.

Fresh Acquisitions LLC and Buffets LLC received a combined $13 million in Paycheck Protection Program loans near the beginning of the pandemic in April 2020. The loans were later forgiven.
