Savannah Guthrie is reportedly "livid" over false claims that her brother-in-law could be a suspect in the investigation into her missing mother, says a former NBC colleague.

Podcaster Ashleigh Banfield erroneously reported that Tommaso Cioni, husband of Annie Guthrie and Savannah's brother-in-law, could be implicated in the kidnapping. Banfield made this assertion during the February 3 episode of her show, Drop Dead Serious With Ashleigh Banfield.

These remarks were made despite Pima County Sheriff Chris Nanos' insistence that Nancy's family members have been ruled out as potential suspects. This follows the emergence of a disturbing new theory about how Nancy was horrifically taken from her home.

Megyn Kelly, a former NBC employee where Savannah's Today show is filmed, has suggested that Nancy's daughter is incensed by the comments regarding her brother-in-law. "I have not been able to confirm that the Guthrie family wants to sue Ashleigh Banfield, but I have confirmed that Savannah is livid about that report and definitely does not suspect her sister or her brother-in-law," Kelly stated during an episode of SiriusXM's The Megyn Kelly Show.
