A Deltona Middle School student brought a bus on its way to school to a stop Friday morning when he said there was a bomb on the vehicle, the Volusia County Sheriff's Office said.
The student was arrested for making the fake threat and was charged with false reporting and campus disruption, the sheriff's office said in a Facebook post.
According to the post, the student stood up on the bus and claimed another student had a bomb in a backpack, causing the driver to immediately stop and report the incident.
Deputies responded to the call and evacuated the bus. No bomb was found, the Facebook news release said.
"Thanks to the bus driver and Volusia County Schools for the teamwork in taking all threats seriously!" the sheriff's office said in its post.
