School Security Guard In Jersey City Faces Charges Over Fraudulent Medical Claims - TAPinto.net

JERSEY CITY, NJ — A security guard for the Jersey City Public School District faces charges after authorities say he submitted over 50 fraudulent medical claims to his insurance company.

According to Hudson County Prosecutor Esther Suarez, Kaquan Vanliew, 34, of Jersey City submitted the false claims to AFLAC between 2018 and 2021 and received $17,000 in payouts from a policy obtained through his job in the school district.

He was arrested without incident Thursday at the Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office and charged with one count of insurance fraud.

Vanliew was released on a summons pending his first court appearance, according to Suarez.

The prosecutor noted that the investigation is ongoing.

Anyone with additional information is asked to call the Insurance Fraud Unit at 201-795-6000 ext. 6634.
