Top Democratic lawmakers are pushing to advance a bill next year that would prevent airports from using federal funds unless their service workers are paid a prevailing wage and benefits.
Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-N.Y.) said it was a priority to include the legislation, which requires wages of at least $15 per hour, in the next Federal Aviation Administration reauthorization bill. Lawmakers are set to debate aviation issues in the next Congress before the current authorization expires at the end of September 2023.
