Scott Perry losing support over Jan. 6 allegations, poll by Democratic opponent says - PennLive

Democrat Shamaine Daniels said Monday a poll commissioned by her campaign shows her leading incumbent Rep. Scott Perry in the race for Perry’s seat in the U.S. House.

She says the poll of likely voters in the 10th Congressional District shows her leading Perry 49% to 45% when voters are told about his record in Congress and his alleged involvement in former President Donald Trump’s efforts to overturn results of the 2020 election.

“My team and I are encouraged by the results of our recent poll. While many will find this result surprising, they shouldn’t,” Daniels said. “Whether Scott Perry betrayed our country is up to authorities to decide, but he has betrayed his constituents and they know it.”

Perry, a Republican from York County, is seeking a fifth term.

The poll by North Carolina-based Public Policy Polling involved 714 people. It has a margin of error of plus or minus 3.7%. It was conducted Aug. 9-10 by phone and text message.

Asked about the poll, Perry spokesman Matt Benyon said, “Congressman Perry’s attention is focused on the unaffordable cost of living under which his constituents are suffering, not internal polling paid for by his opponent.”

Daniels, 43, is a Harrisburg City councilwoman and an immigration lawyer.

Perry, perhaps more than any other member of Congress, has been in a spotlight over alleged involvement in Trump’s efforts to deny and overturn the results of the 2020 election.
