Employers are being urged to prepare early for sweeping changes to workplace law under the Employment Rights Act 2025.
Scottish law firm BTO Solicitors LLP is hosting two free seminars in Edinburgh and Glasgow to help organisations understand and prepare for what it describes as the most significant reforms to UK employment law in a generation.
The changes are due to take effect during 2026 and 2027, with employers facing changes to how they recruit, manage and dismiss staff.
The seminars will provide practical guidance on reforms to unfair dismissal rights, including changes to qualifying service and the removal of the compensatory cap.
Other areas covered will include employment terms and conditions, fire and rehire practices, employment policies and contracts, trade union and labour relations, and the legal duty to take all reasonable steps to prevent sexual harassment.
The sessions will also examine potential immigration implications arising from the reforms.
Attendees will be able to ask questions during a dedicated Q&A session and will receive guidance on strengthening their position when responding to potential employment claims.
Registration and refreshments will begin at 3pm, followed by the seminar and Q&A from 3.30pm.
The Edinburgh seminar will take place on September 15, followed by the Glasgow event on September 16.
Registration details are available through BTO Solicitors.
