It’ll take six figures to bring an end to a wage dispute between a long-running local strip club and a group of its former dancers.

Richard’s Rendezvous, which operates at 1732 Atlamont Ave. in Scott’s Addition, has agreed to pay $300,000 to settle the lawsuit filed against it earlier this year by performers who claimed they’re owed unpaid minimum wages and unpaid overtime, and that the club’s pay practices violate federal and state employment law.

According to a pending agreement filed in U.S. District Court earlier this month, the settlement fund would be split between as many as 35 former Richard’s entertainers who worked at the club from Jan. 15, 2023 to June 4, 2026.

If approved by a judge, the $300,000 total would include attorneys’ fees of $120,000, leaving a net settlement amount for the plaintiffs of $171,000.

That amounts to an average pretax settlement of $4,885 per plaintiff, but will vary depending on the number of shifts they each worked at Richard’s during the relevant time period.

“This settlement is properly juxtaposed against what would likely be a long and drawn out, and expensive, litigation should this matter proceed,” the plaintiffs’ attorneys said in a filing earlier this month detailing the settlement. “Litigating this case to conclusion would potentially cost each side hundreds of thousands of dollars in additional attorney fees while likely not resulting in significantly better recoveries for the Class.”
