Seasonal Work Visa Program Overhaul Under White House Review - Bloomberg Law

A proposed rule from the Department of Homeland Security to reform two major seasonal work visa programs is under review at the White House Office of Information and Regulatory Affairs.

The new rule will aim to make the H-2A temporary agricultural and H-2B temporary, non-farm visa programs more efficient and address exploitation and abuse of workers. Among other possible changes, DHS will aim to strengthen specific protections against recruitment fees, salary deductions, and other prohibited payments charged to workers, according to the agency’s spring regulatory agenda.
