SEC awards whistleblower $1.25 million - Business Insurance
The U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission on Friday announced a $1.25 million award to a whistleblower who provided “specific and credible” information that prompted its staff to open an investigation that resulted in a successful SEC action.
The agency said in a statement that the whistleblower provided “extensive assistance” that saved it time and resources, including identifying witnesses, explaining critical documents and helping it focus the investigation on key issues.
The SEC said in January that it granted two awards totaling more than $4 million to whistleblowers who provided information and assistance in two separate cases.
