Secret Service said it had 'limited resources' during Trump rally, whistleblower claims - wgxa.tv

WASHINGTON (TND) — Rep. Jim Jordan, R-Ohio, said Thursday a whistleblower testified to the House Judiciary Committee that the Secret Service admitted it was shorthanded during former President Donald Trump’s Saturday rally due to the NATO summit in Washington D.C.

The revelation, included in a letter to FBI Director Christopher Wray, potentially sheds new light on the security shortcomings surrounding the Trump assassination attempt. The shooting killed one person and injured three others, including Trump.

The FBI is now one of several agencies investigating the shooting. The new whistleblower information, Rep. Jordan wrote, led the committee to question whether or not the FBI knew of potential threats prior to the event .

“The Committee has several unanswered questions about the failures that led to the attempted assassination of a president—the first in over forty years—as well as the FBI’s ability to conduct a rapid, transparent, and thorough investigation in the wake of its recent scandals,” the letter reads.

Jordan says the whistleblower told lawmakers Secret Service agent Tim Burke told other law enforcement the agency had "limited resources" due to the NATO summit in the nation's capital.

The letter continues by demanding a slew of answers from Wray, including how the shooter was able to gain access to a nearby roof where he shot at Trump.
