According to a recent report by the New York Times, investors have filed a lawsuit against Selena Gomez, her mother, and others who co-founded the company, seeking damages.
Wondermind was established in 2021 to help the public access mental health resources more easily. However, in this lawsuit, the investors claimed that the Wondermind team falsely represented the media company’s development direction and leadership structure.
According to the complaint, Gomez signed a contract stating she would “actively grow the company as a marketing leader,” but later ignored this agreement. Additionally, while Wondermind claimed to have partnered with Fidelity and JP Morgan to provide mental health services to employees of those companies, the plaintiffs argued this was a “non-existent fact.” The complaint also specified that promised celebrity profiles, the launch of a “groundbreaking app,” and advertising contracts were all canceled.
Investors further stated, “None of the founders, executives, or directors provided even a single explanation to the investors,” and they only learned about Wondermind’s financial and operational chaos through an article published in *The Cut* last year. The exposé revealed that Gomez was attempting to distance herself from the company and detailed the CEO Daniela Pearson’s problematic dismissal process.
