Senate confirms Trump Ex-lawyer Emil Bove to federal appeals court amid whistleblower allegations - Firstpost

The Senate has confirmed Emil Bove, a former Trump lawyer, to a lifetime seat on the Third Circuit Court, despite multiple whistleblower allegations. His confirmation passed mostly along party lines, with all Democrats and two Republicans voting against him.

The Senate on Tuesday confirmed Emil Bove, a senior Justice Department official and former defense lawyer for Donald Trump, to a lifetime position on a federal appeals court, despite serious allegations from a whistleblower.

Bove was confirmed in a mostly party-line vote, with all 50 Republican senators backing him for a seat on the Third Circuit Court of Appeals, which covers New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Delaware, and the US Virgin Islands.

All Democrats voted against him, joined by Republicans Susan Collins and Lisa Murkowski. Senator Bill Hagerty of Tennessee was absent.

Last week, another former Justice Department lawyer came forward to back up Erez Reuveni’s claims, according to Whistleblower Aid, the nonprofit representing the anonymous whistleblower.

Then on Tuesday, The Washington Post reported that a third whistleblower accused Emil Bove of misleading Congress about his role in dropping corruption charges against New York City Mayor Eric Adams. The report claims that seven experienced prosecutors resigned in protest after being told to end the case—something Democrats allege was done to win Adams’s cooperation with Trump’s immigration agenda.
