Longshore workers in the US would no longer be able to engage in disruptive work slowdowns or resist automation efforts at the nation’s ports under proposed revisions to the federal right-to-strike laws being pushed by four Republican senators.

Arguing that US supply chains need to be protected from the costs of longshore labor disruptions, Idaho Senators James Risch and Mike Crapo, along with Sen. Rick Scott (R-Fla.) and Sen. Ted Budd (R-NC), last week introduced the ”Preventing Labor Union Slowdowns Act” (PLUS) of 2023.
