Senior citizen nabbed for using fake invoices in RM36,000 claim - The Star Online

KOTA KINABALU: A pensioner has been arrested for allegedly using false invoices to claim RM36,000 from a district office.

The 61-year-old suspect was said to have produced two invoices containing details of food and beverage supply to officials during the Keningau SAGA IX Sports event between Dec 5 and Dec 13, 2019.

The supply was never delivered, it turned out.

Malaysia Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) Sabah director Datuk S Karunanithy said the suspect was arrested at the graft-buster's office in Keningau at around 10am on Monday (Feb 27).

He said the suspect is being investigated for providing false claims under Section 18 of the MACC Act 2009 and is expected to be charged soon.

He advised the public to refrain from producing false documentation for claims in any government-related programmes as it was a serious offence.
