A ruling that former Seongnam Mayor Eun Soo-mi of Gyeonggi Province and Seongnam City officials, who deleted the career of a former secretary who raised corruption allegations and damaged his reputation, must pay tens of millions of won in compensation has been finalized by the Supreme Court.
According to the legal community on the 25th, the Second Division of the Supreme Court (presiding Justice Oh Kyung-mi) finalized the lower court's ruling, which partially favored the plaintiff, by dismissing the appeal without review ('non-review dismissal') in the final appeal of a damages lawsuit filed by a former secretary A, who worked in former Mayor Eun's office, against Seongnam City, former Mayor Eun, and former public relations secretary B of Seongnam City. This was because the case was deemed not to fall under the subjects for review in the final appeal, and the appeal was dismissed without separate deliberation.
Accordingly, Seongnam City and former Mayor Eun will jointly compensate 25 million Korean won, and Seongnam City and B will jointly compensate another 25 million Korean won, resulting in a total compensation of 50 million Korean won.
