Sex-traffic liar jailed for false claims didn't make it all up, claims her dad - The Mirror

by Asian grooming gangs didn't make up all of her lies, her dad has claimed.

Eleanor Williams, 22, was jailed for eight-and-a-half years this week after spinning a disturbing web of falsehoods that drove three men to try and take their own lives and sparked unprecedented protests in her hometown of Barrow-in-Furness, Cumbria.

She published pictures of her injuries and an account of being groomed, trafficked and beaten, on Facebook in May 2020, in a post which was shared more than 100,000 times.

Her posts sparked demonstrations that saw businesses vandalised in her home town and led to former English Defence League founder Tommy Robinson visiting the town to "investigate" the claims.

Williams made serious sexual allegations against a large number of men between 2016 and 2020 - but had fabricated evidence including causing physical injuries to herself.

Sentencing Williams, Judge Robert Altham said: "We are aware that the sex trafficking of young females does occur. There is a risk genuine victims will be put off reporting and fear they will not be believed I am sure anyone investigating will do everything they can to support them."

He added: "It is troubling she appears to show no remorse."

Today, Williams' father says he accepts that his daughter fabricated evidence, but says she didn't make everything up.
