A popular U.S. burger chain is making its way to the Great White North.
In a recent news release, New York-based Shake Shack announced that it will open its first permanent Canadian location in Toronto in 2024.
“We have been eyeing this incredible opportunity in Canada for quite some time and are elated to have found exceptional partners to serve Shack classics and bespoke Canada-exclusive items to our sophisticated neighbors to the north,” Michael Kark, Chief Global Licensing Officer of Shake Shack, said.
Partnering with Toronto-based investment firms Osmington Inc. and Harlo Entertainment Inc., Kark added that the chain plans to open “35 Shacks in Canada by 2035.”
The company didn’t provide a specific address for its flagship store in Toronto.
Shake Shack’s entrance into the Canadian market comes after several U.S. fast food brands, including Five Guys, Wahlburgers, and Chick-fil-A, have expanded north in recent years.

According to LinkedIn, the company employs a total workforce of more than 3,800 people. Roles range from frontline team members to restaurant managers.
