Silver Spring naval officer sentenced for cyberstalking - Montgomery Community Media

A Navy lieutenant commander from Silver Spring was sentenced to 41 years in prison after a jury found him guilty of cyberstalking his ex-wife and her boyfriend late last year, according to the U.S. Attorney’s Office, District of Maryland.

Jason Michael Leidel, 45, also was sentenced to three years of supervised release. He was found guilty following a two-week trial in December 2025.

According to court documents and evidence presented at trial, on multiple occasions, Leidel sent emails with false allegations to get his ex-wife fired from her job as a special education teacher at a public school. Leidel sent emails trying to get his ex-wife and their children evicted from their house.

He also repeatedly filed false child protective services claims against his former wife. Then when she started dating someone else, Leidel filed false claims, stating that the person was abusing children, according to court documents. He also tried to get that person investigated and fired.

The harassment continued for several years.
