Plaintiff Loriann Staples filed a class action lawsuit against Simmons Bedding Company, LLC, claiming that the company’s 1,000 thread count Beautyrest products including bedding and linen actually have a thread count of 216.

The plaintiff claims that she and others read the bedding packaging and purchased the bedding based on the thread count claims, which the lawsuit says are not true.

Thread count is calculated by counting the number of threads in both the warp and filling directions and counting plied yarns as one yarn. But Simmons instead chose to count the plied yarns individually, which raises the count artificially and deceives consumers, the lawsuit claims.
