Saturday Night Live tore into lying Congressman George Santos in its cold open last night, portraying him as an out of his depth NFL sidelines reporter with a tall list of bogus football credentials to his name.
On the show, comedian Bowen Yang portrayed a Santos who claimed to have lead the league in rushing and passing to be the 'first African-American quarterback to ever dunk a football,' and called himself the 'real Bo Jackson' - an athlete known for making all-star teams in both professional football and baseball.
But the claims made by the sketch's Santos came nowhere close to the absurdity of the real Republican's lies, which, to name just a few, included claims that he was descended from Holocaust survivors, that his mother was in the World Trade Center south tower on 9/11, and that he saved thousands of pets through a charity that never existed.
SNL also jabbed at Santos's virulent - and false - denial that he ever performed as drag queen in Brazil by having Yang strut on screen in a wig and dress while dancing to the NFL theme song.
The sketch started with a spoof of the NFL post-game panel discussing a game between the New York Giants and the Philadelphia Eagles.
After a bit of talk, the panelists then introduced a new reporter - Rep. George Santos - who they said submitted a resume so strong they 'had to give him a shot.'
Some of his purported credentials included winning 'more championships than Tom Brady, and being a 'Heisman trophy winner.'
