Human rights activist and former presidential candidate, Omoyele Sowore, has accused the Department of State Services (DSS) and the Nigerian Army of unlawfully persecuting a whistleblower identified as Justice Mark Chidiebere, popularly known as “Justice Crack,” alleging torture, abduction, and abuse of judicial process.
In a statement shared on X on Thursday, Sowore recounted that he visited the office of Nigeria’s Attorney General and Minister of Justice, Lateef Fagbemi (SAN), on Wednesday to demand the immediate discontinuation of charges filed against the detained whistleblower.
According to him, the visit followed growing concerns over the continued detention of Justice Crack by the DSS despite allegations of torture and degrading treatment allegedly inflicted on him by officers of the Nigerian Army.
“Yesterday, I hesitantly visited Lateef Fagbemi (SAN) Nigeria’s Minister of Justice and the Attorney General of the Federation, over the case of Justice Chidiebere, also known as Justice Crack, a whistleblower being unjustly persecuted by the lawless DSS after his abduction, torture, and degrading treatment by the HQ Nigerian Army,” Sowore stated.
