Spotify’s sacked UK employees have claimed that the company is not following British employment law, according to Prospect, the tech workers’ union.

Spotify announced last week that it was laying off 6 per cent of its staff — almost 600 people — becoming the latest technology business to announce big job cuts.

The union said it was being approached by a “small but growing” number of Spotify staff.

The New York-listed group employs 9,800 people globally, about 800 of them in Britain. Prospect believes between 20 and 99 UK roles are at risk. The company would not comment.
