A St. Louis County woman admitted to defrauding Missouri Medicaid by submitting false claims related to home health care services.
Camille S. Childress, 41, pleaded guilty to one count of health care fraud. Court records indicate Childress submitted fraudulent documentation to enroll her company, Inspiring Angels LLC, as a Missouri Medicaid provider. The application materials falsely identified another individual as the owner, concealing Childress’s involvement due to a 2012 criminal conviction.
According to the plea agreement, Childress also submitted claims seeking reimbursement for home health care services that were never performed. In multiple instances, clients were hospitalized at the time the services were allegedly provided, making it impossible for them to have received care at home. Additional claims were filed despite the absence of timesheets or any supporting documentation verifying that services occurred.
Missouri Medicaid disbursed at least $174,496 for fraudulent claims submitted during 2021 and 2022.
Childress is scheduled for sentencing on June 16. The charge carries a maximum penalty of up to 10 years in prison, a fine of up to $250,000, or both. Restitution will also be ordered.
The case was investigated by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services Office of Inspector General, the Missouri Medicaid Fraud Control Unit, and the Federal Bureau of Investigation. Assistant U.S. Attorney Derek Wiseman is prosecuting the case.
