The Supreme Court has granted interim protection from arrest to Abhishek Upadhyay, who has alleged that he was targeted after raising concerns over the alleged misuse of donations made by devotees to the Ram Temple in Ayodhya.

Upadhyay’s lawyer told the court that he was among the first to report the alleged financial irregularities involving temple donations. He also alleged that Ghaziabad Police filed a case against him under the SC/ST Act following a road-rage incident.

His counsel questioned the manner in which the case was being investigated and sought a probe by an independent agency, including the CBI or Delhi Police. The lawyer also alleged that police had not provided Upadhyay with a copy of the FIR or CCTV footage related to the incident.

The Supreme Court’s interim order provides temporary protection from arrest while the matter is considered further.
